Colin Farrell is dishing on his past partying ways and struggles with addiction.
According to Irish Independent, the 37-year-old actor is speaking out about his struggle with drugs and alcohol and how his problem began before he became successful in Hollywood.
E! Online reports that Farrell spoke on The Late Late show about feeling “sad” and speaking with a counselor at age nineteen.
Flash forward ten years later and the actor was starring in Miami Vice. At that time his family encouraged him to seek treatment for his addictions.
“Miami Vice wrapped... and I was put on a plane and sent to rehab,” he said. “I'd gotten out of control—for years I could indulge in certain things.”
Farrell specifically mentioned his drinking habits and doing "whatever powder" he could get at home. "I had quite a high tolerance for various drugs for years, I thought. It accumulated to the point where I couldn't put my foot on the brake anymore."
When the Irish actor made the move to America, his addiction, which Farrell described as “already in him,” continued to grow due to the easy access of the substances.
Farrell also revealed that his son James was an inspiration for him to get sober. He described his body as “dying” and wanted to go to rehab to become a better father.
