For the thousands of Harry Potter fans across the globe, Daniel Radcliffe will always be known as the face of Harry no matter how far it gets from the final film. The iconic face of actor Daniel Radcliffe has made him long to shed this view as best that he can.

Radcliffe recently opened up to New York Times Magazine explaining his desire to separate himself from the Potter films as best he can. Radcliffe told the magazine that even though he has done numerous film and acting projects after the close of the set of Potter, he still struggles with the worry that his fans would see the face of Harry Potter come through in whatever project he worked on.

“It’s just my face,” Radcliffe said. “I have to accept the fact that my face is going to remind people of Harry because I played that character. If I try to avoid being expressive in that same way, all I’ll do is stop being expressive, and I won’t be any farther away from that character.”

Radcliffe has attempted to take on the faces of a few other film characters since the close of the Potter films including his role in The Woman in Black, but a more recent project may just do the trick of fully separating himself from his old character.

E! News reports that Radcliffe is currently working on the upcoming film, Kill Your Darlings where he will play the famous poet, Allen Ginsberg.

Radcliffe’s desire for separation isn’t just about showing the world that he’s grown up. Radcliffe hopes that his fans can see his true talent as an actor as he takes on new roles.

“When you fall into something at age 11….there is a part of you that thinks everybody is just saying, ‘He got there because he fell into it; he’s not really an actor,” Radcliffe said in his interview with New York Times Magazine.

It’s not likely that Radcliffe will be able to shake his famous Potter face any time soon, but his efforts in future film roles will certainly prove him talented.
