Community actor Donald Glover took to Instagram on Monday to post a series of disturbing messages that explained why he left the cult NBC sitcom and he shared his feelings on several other topics, including his music career as Childish Gambino.

Glover posted a series of handwritten notes on paper from a Marriott hotel and posted each on his Instagram page. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, the seven messages begin with personal admissions like “I'm afraid my parents won't live long enough to see my kids” and “I'm afraid people hate who I really am.” He also writes about other fears, like “I'm afraid people think I hate my race” and “I'm afraid people think I hate women.”

But later on, he explains why he really left Community. "I didn't leave Community to rap,” he wrote. “I don't wanna rap. I wanted to be on my own.” He also is afraid that creator Dan Harmon, who returned for season five, “hates me.”

The 30-year-old later wrote, "I've been sick this year, I've seen a bunch of people die this year. This is the first time I've felt helpless. But I'm not on that.”

In another message, he wrote that his record label does not want to release his new album In Christmas since he’s not a “big artist.”

Glover committed to just five episodes of Community, but recently signed on to develop an FX comedy.
