Fox has decided that airing an animated comedy titled Murder Police this winter wasn’t such a good idea. The show, which featured Glee’s Jane Lynch in the voice cast, has been cancelled before a single episode even aired.
Fox had decided ro hold back Murder Police for this mid-season, along with Gang Related, Surviving Jack and Us & Them. But, according to TV Guide, the network has opted to not air it at all.
Fox executives were not happy with the version of Murder Police they were presented, according to TV Guide’s sources. 20th Century Fox TV, which produced the show, will shop the project to potential buyers, though, so it could live on elsewhere.
Murder Police told the story of a detective who isn’t good at his job and his co-workers. Wilmer Valderrama, Will Sasso and Chi McBride lead the voice cast, along with Lynch, reports Entertainment Weekly. It was created by Jason Ruiz and Family Guy’s David A. Goodman.
Fox’s ‘Animation Domination’ block is filled up, so how Murder Police would have fit in the network’s schedule is a mystery. The Simpsons was just renewed for season 26 and Bob’s Burgers earned a fifth season.
