Mia Farrow caused a media firestorm on Tuesday when her Vanity Fair interview was published online. In the interview, she claimed that the father of her son Ronan might not be her former partner, Woody Allen, but rather Frank Sinatra. Barbara Sinatra, the legendary singer’s widow, called the claims “phony.”
As we previously reported, when Farrow, 68, was asked if Sinatra could be Ronan’s father, she replied “Possibly.” She also claimed that “We never really split up,” referring to her life after her marriage to Sinatra ended in 1968. Farrow said that they continued their sexual relationship after they split.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that DNA tests have not been done, so there is no scientific proof to back up Farrow’s claim. But Nancy Sinatra also said that Ronan, 25, was like a member of the Sinatra family. “He's a big part of us, and we are blessed to have him in our lives,” she said.
In an interview with the Desert Sun on Wednesday, Barbara Sinatra called the claims “a phony deal.”
“I can’t hardly believe that. It’s just a bunch of junk. There’s always junk written — lies that aren’t true,” she continued. “It sounds like a phony to me.”
Allen’s reps also contacted the AP, stating, “The article is so fictitious and extravagantly absurd that he is not going to comment.”
As for Ronan, he tweeted:
