I stayed at Gables Bed & Breakfast in Schoharie County (Central New York) for just one night, but I was delighted.
Gables consists of two houses, two beautiful Victorian style homes in Cobleskill, NY (436 W Main St Cobleskill, NY 12043). It is conveniently located right on main street, from a walking distance of SUNY Cobleskill, a 2500 students university. It is also only 30 minutes away from Cooperstown, home of the Baseball Hall of Fame the Ommegang Brewery (see my previous story: Central New York: that one time where I tried 50 different craft beers and 20 spirits in 5 days).
Each unites have a private bathroom (not always the case in a B&B) and LCD television. My bed was comfortable and I felt at home; I used he living room as an office, surfing the net with an hight speed connection. My host John was available at any moment to make my stay a great experience.
In the morning, he brought me what Gables is renewed for: his famous muffins and his homemade strawberry jam. I had two muffins for breakfast and saved two more for the road. They are that good.
The price is particularly attractive for a B&B. Depending of the room and the time of the year, the price goes from $69 to $169 for a room or $120 to $299 for the private 2 bedrooms suite that can accommodate up to 6 persons in 4 beds.
