Rob Gronkowski has been cleared to play by his doctors, agent Drew Rosehaus says.
Friday morning Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was asked about it Friday morning but declined to confirm the report. The tight end has been officially listed as questionable in Friday's injury report according to ESPN Questionable means that there is a 50 percent chance he will play.
“Hopefully he’ll be back soon, maybe even this weekend,” Rosenhaus had said.
According to the Boston Globe Gronkowski has had four surgeries on his left forearm after breaking it in November. He also had surgery on his back in June.
Orthopedist Dr. James Andrews was brought in to consult Gronkowski's situation, and Rosenhaus said that Gronk would not play until cleared by Dr. Andrews.
Patriots President Jonathan Kraft had this to say about Gronkowski's injury:
"Sometimes you're a player and you want to go out there and play, and for their own good, you need to be held back. Sometimes you have players who are cleared medically and they're not just ready psychologically to get back on the field. As we talked about, you shouldn't step on an NFL field unless you are. Either of those are equally fine [orders] and metrics."
So we may or may not see the return of Gronkowski this Sunday against the Jets, but all we know is that he has been cleared to play.
