The director is publishing an illustrated book called Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities: My Notebooks, Collections and Other Obsessions, giving fans some insight into his thoughts.
According to First Showing, the book is a collection of personal drawings and notes from the director's private notebooks.
The Hellboy director's illustrated book also comes with some additional celebrity writings. James Cameron wrote a forward, and the book also contains an afterword by Tom Cruise. In addition, there are contributions from John Landis and Neil Gaiman that will appear in the book.
There will be two editions of the book released. A regular edition will cost $36, but a $633.82 limited edition version of the book will be available that comes with additional artwork, some custom components influenced by his work. The limited edition also comes in a two-drawer replica designed to look like a cabinet.
Reuters notes the illustrated book will be 256 pages and goes on sale Oct. 29. Marc Scott Zicree helped write the book as well.
In the foreword, Cameron wrote, del Toro "sees with the wonder and stark terror of a child."
The Titanic director added, "His notebooks are a map of the subconscious, and his films doorways into the dungeons of our dreams, allowing us to confront our own individual hearts of darkness, to do battle and emerge victorious."
