Whoops! James Taylor messed up the National Anthem at Game 2 of the World Series on Thursday night.
According to E! Online the singer got a little bit confused and accidentally began singing the words to “America the Beautiful.”
Luckily, the “Fire & Rain” singer caught his mistake early and switched to the “Star-Spangled Banner” during the first couple of words.
Fox News reports that the folk singer was supposed to play “America the Beautiful” during the seventh inning of the game, so that’s most likely why he made the mistake.
The audience did take notice of Taylor’s mistake, and some people lashed out at the singer on Twitter.
One user wrote, “I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain and at least I know which song is the #nationalanthem.”
Some people were more forgiving of the mix-up. It’s not like Taylor is the first star to flub the National Anthem.
In 2011, Christina Aguilera forgot the lyrics to the “Star-Spangled Banner” at the Super Bowl.
