We’re getting closer and closer to Prince George’s long-awaited christening, and Jason Bell has been announced as the official photographer for the event.
According to E! Online, a press release from Kensington palace revealed that Bell will take the official photographs at the private ceremony in London.
"I'm honored that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked me to photograph the christening of their son Prince George," Bell said. "I'm privileged to be recording this moment in history."
The Guardian reports that Bell is best-known for his work capturing rock stars and actors like David Beckham, Robbie Williams, Paul McCartney, Nicole Kidman, and Scarlett Johansson. His photographs have appeared in publications like Vogue and Vanity Fair.
Bell’s work has earned him a variety of prestigious awards, including the Royal Photographic Society’s Terence Donovan Award for outstanding contribution to photography and the Best British Black and White Photographer at the UK Picture Editors’ Awards. In September 2011, he was mad an honorary fellow of the Royal Photographic Society.
Bell will capture the first official photograph for the baby prince. George’s parents William and Kate most likely chose Bell as the photographer because they wanted a more young and modern approach.
Prince George’s christening will take place at Wednesday, October 23rd, in the Chapel Royal at St. James’ Palace in London. A selection of photographs will be released the day after the christening.
