It seems as though the Houston Rockets will not have a definite starting point guard this season.

Head coach Kevin McHale says that the Rockets have "two starting point guards" this year, those being Jeremy Lin and second year point guard Patrick Beverly. They each started two preseason games a piece and there has been no indication of who will be the regular season starter.

"As a player, I always found it irrelevant," McHale said referring to starting. "I came off the bench in a lot of games. What is the big difference in playing 27½ minutes off the bench and playing 26 minutes as a starter? I guess it is a big deal to some people."

According to LA Times coach McHale also mentioned it would be possible for both point guards to share the court at the same time.

Lin seems to be buying into McHale's plan.

"We have different strengths," Lin said. "[Beverley] is such a good defender and shooter. I am better with the ball in my hands, attacking. I think that makes us tough to scout, and it gives us the opportunity to give a lot of different looks."

ESPN reports that as Beverly's numbers went up, Lin's numbers went down. During the regular season Lin averaged 13.4 points, 6.1 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game. Once in the playoffs, Lin only averaged 4.0 points, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 rebounds per game. Beverly went up from 5.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists during the regular season to postseason numbers of 11.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists.

"I watch him. He watches me," Lin said. "We feed off each other, learn from other. I think that comes really naturally for us."
