Katy Perry is setting herself apart from the rest of the pop stars out there by urging them to stop using their sexiness as a clutch.
While promoting her new album Prism in an interview with NPR’s Scott Simon, she didn’t call out anyone in particular but did comment on the sexy images of stars like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga.
“I’m not talking about anyone in particular. I’m talking about all of them. I mean, it’s like everybody’s so naked,” she said. “It’s like put it away. We know you’ve got it. I got it, too.”
Perry went on to say that she has used her sex appeal before, but it’s nice to venture away from that.
“I’ve taken it out here and there. And I’m not necessarily judging. I’m just saying sometimes it’s nice to play that card, but also it’s nice to play other cards,” she said.
When talking about being a role model, she said she prefers to be an “inspiration” to others. She also said, she sees herself as an “inspiration out of default right now, ’cause it’s such a strange world. Like females in pop – everybody’s getting naked.”
Perry was previously married to Russell Brand and she's now dating John Mayer. She recently celebrated her 29th birthday.
