Kenan Thompson talked about the lack of diversity on NBC's Saturday Night Live, which recently added new cast members, but they were mostly white and male.

According to USA Today, Thompson was asked by TVGuide about how the show will handle spoofing a black female character if they need to. "I don't know. We just haven't done them," he commented.

"Maybe [Jay Pharaoh] will do it or something, but even he doesn't really want to do it."

The show has had a lack of black female comics, both as hosts or featured members during the show's history. Maya Rudolph was the last black female cast member and she left back in 2007. She was also the last to host as well.

Zap2It reports that Thompson says the issue over the lack of a black female comic on the show is on them. "It's a tough part of the business," he offered. "Like in auditions, they just never find ones that are ready."

Pharoah, back in September, was more forward about it being a problem when talking to TheGrio. He said SNL "needs to pay attention."

He believes that the late night comedy show should hire Darmirra Brunson, "Because she's black first of all, and she's really talented. She's amazing. She needs to be on SNL. I said it. And I believe they need to follow up with it like they said they were going to do last year."
