Kimberly Perry of the Band Perry is engaged to Toronto Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia.
According to US Magazine, the 30-year-old singer accepted a very romantic proposal from the baseball player on Monday, September 30th.
J.P., 27, got down on one knee and presented her with a 3 karat emerald cut ring at Kimberly’s parent’s 15-acre home in Greenville, Tennessee. The “If I Die Young” singer always dreamed of getting proposed to under a special oak tree in the yard.
“If I get proposed to in this life, I hope it happens underneath this tree,” she said.
E! Online reports that Kimberly’s beau surprised her by tricking her into getting ready for a family dinner. When Kimberly walked outside and saw J.P. standing under the oak tree she realized that her whole life was about to change. “I saw that and I thought, ‘This is really happening,’” she said.
Perry was then instructed by her mother to put on her favorite pink dress and also take a letter and bracelet that her grandfather had gifted to her grandmother at the start of their relationship.
“I came back out on the front porch and he was standing there and he got down on one knee,” she gushed. “It was perfect.”
The happy couple first met backstage at the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Florida in February of 2012. J.P. introduced himself at a meet-and-greet, got her number, and the rest is history.
Congratulations Kimberly and J.P.!
