Kobe Bryant will be having platelet-rich plasma therapy on his right knee in Germany.
Having work done on his knee is nothing new for Bryant. In the last ten years, Bryant has had multiple operations on his right knee. During the summer of 2011, Bryant visited Germany to have the same procedure done, and he credited the procedure for saving his career, according toYahoo Sports. Bryant didn’t discuss the trip to Germany with Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni before he left. D’Antoni wasn’t worried about it. "I don't think it's a surprise," D’Antoni said,ESPN Los Angeles reports. "I think he had it programmed and just the way it was, he knew he had time because he's not getting on the court yet. So, I don't think it's a big deal and I don't think it caught him by surprise. Instead of doing it in August, he's doing it now. There's no concern whatsoever.”
Last summer, Bryant had planned to have the procedure done, but went against having it. He played for Team USA in London and won a gold medal instead. On Wednesday, he participated in practice by doing some jogging and set shooting.
It is unknown when Bryant will be cleared to play for the Lakers this season.
