When Mexican singer Jenni Rivera passed away in December 2012, she wasn’t on speaking terms with her daughter Janney "Chiquis" Marin, 28. Rivera thought Marin had an affair with her third husband, Esteban Loaiza.
In an interview that aired on Tuesday, Marin opened up about the scandal and denies having an affair with the MLB star.
She told Aztec America that she had not talked to her mother since Oct. 2, 2012, two months before her death.
"The world and my family lost Jenni on December 9, I lost my mother two months before on October 2. It was a misunderstanding," she said. "My world ended that day."
The day before their argument in October, Rivera filed for divorce from Loaiza, Us Weekly reports.
"I don't understand how the rumor got started, this horrible thing that has caused so much suffering," Marin said. "[Loaiza] has always been very respectful towards me and me with him."
Marin went on to say her mother never asked her about the rumor directly until the confrontation and “To this day, my mother, in her heart, thinks I had something with Esteban."
Rivera died in a tragic plane crash on Dec. 9 near Monterrey, Mexico.
