The third season of HBO’s Girls promises to be packed to the brim with guest stars. The latest to join the cast is About Schmidt actress June Squibb.
Showbiz411 confirmed that Squibb has been cast as Hannah Horvath’s grandmother. Hannah is the character played by series creator/writer/star Lena Dunham. There’s no word on how many episodes the 84-year-old actress will be in, but she’s just one of many new faces fans of Girls will see.
According to The Huffington Post, Felicity Jones (The Amazing Spider-Man 2); Michael Zegen (Boardwalk Empire); Jennifer Westfeldt; Gaby Hoffmann; Sarah Steele (The To-Do List); and Melonie Diaz (Fruitvale Station) will all make appearances during the show’s third season.
Squibb has reunited with her About Schmidt director Alexander Payne and is co-starring in Nebraska with Will Forte and Bruce Dern. The Paramount film hits theaters on Nov. 15 and is poised to be a major player during the awards season.
Squibb’s other recent credits include episodes of The Young and the Restless, Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer and Castle.
Girls’ third season will start next year and will feature 12 episodes instead of the usual 10.
