Madonna will not be allowed into the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema chain in Texas after it was reported that the singer was texting throughout a screening for 12 Years A Slave at New York's Walter Reade Theater.
According to Entertainment Weekly the "Material Girl" singer was noticeably texting during the screening and it was annoying other moviegoers. One person even asked her to stop and she reportedly hissed, "It's for business...enslaver!"
After hearing about Madonna's antics, the Alamo Drafthouse chain founder and CEO Tim League tweeted that she would not be allowed into their theaters until she "apologizes to movie fans."
EW asked if League was serious and he replied, "Yeah, I'm serious, but I don't think it really affects her life that much."
The Alamo Drafthouse is known to have a strict policy against texting or using a phone during showings and have been known to kick people out if they are discovered to be abusing that policy.
The Guardian adds that League also said that his initial tweet was an "offhand joke, a spur of the moment 140 characters." The tweet was "more of a means to get the issue out there, that it is rude to text during movies."
League added, "Now that it seems to have taken hold, sure, I'm going to enforce it."
League's movie theater chain is also known for serving a larger menu at its theaters as well as alcohol.
Twelve Years A Slave will see a limited release beginning Oct. 18.
