Marvel is reportedly looking to make a major push into television that will include four series, plus a miniseries. The entire package would total 60 episodes and the studio is shopping the idea to Video On Demand and cable outlets.
The news was reported by Deadline, which is reporting that all the top brass at the studio wouldn’t say a word about this project. Still, the site gathered enough information to report that the project is being shopped around and Netflix, Amazon and WGN America are likely candidates for the package. Other traditional cable networks are interested, as are digital outlets.
The package is in the very early stages, with almost no talents attached. There was also no word on what the package will be about, so let the wild speculation begin on that.
Marvel has already broken into TV with ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which just received a full season order. It has also been reported that Marvel is working on a series about Agent Carter, the Captain America: The First Avenger character.
