Miley Cyrus’ father, Billy Ray Cyrus, is commenting on his daughter’s recently split with fiancé of over a year, Liam Hemsworth.

The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer, 52, assured fans that his famous daughter is incredibly happy, and that’s all that matters to him. He even said she lost her spark when she was having problems with the Hunger Games actor.

"All I know for sure is I heard my daughter say today she's the happiest she's ever been in her life immediately following [the breakup.] That's when I saw Miley being so happy," he told Entertainment Tonight, Us Weekly reports.

He said of Cyrus, who confirmed she had called off her engagement to Hemsworth last month, "Somewhere along the stress and strain of different things I didn't see her smiling as often for a little while."

With her new album Bangerz coming out, and everything going on in her life right now, he says she’s very happy. "All of a sudden she's like the sun, and when she smiles it's light. . . . Everything happens for a reason and the main thing for me, as Miley’s daddy, is she's happy,” he said.

Cyrus told Fashion magazine recently that she wanted to leave Hemsworth back in February.

She said of her song “Drive” it’s "about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship. It's a time when you want to leave but you can't. It's also about moving on."
