Fans thought Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance was shocking and provocative, but in her MTV documentary Miley: The Movement on Wednesday night, she revealed she wanted to cross the line even further.

Cyrus famously came out in a latex bra and panties get-up, but she revealed she actually wanted to come out topless.

"You're not going to be topless on stage are you?” Britney Spears asked Cyrus in the documentary, to which the 20-year-old “Wrecking Ball” singer replied, "I tried, but I don't think MTV's going to allow it,” E! Online reports.

Cyrus has been defending her performance since it happened, but people are still talking about it. She was seen twerking on the married Robin Thicke and using a foam finger pretty provocatively.

"Everyone takes the VMAs so seriously, but I just wanna come out and like shoot a hot dog gun," she told Spears.

She also told the camera in the documentary of the performance, “I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna's done it. Britney's done it. Every VMA performance, that's what you're looking for; you're wanting to make history."
