NBC has placed comedy Parks and Recreation on hiatus for the rest of 2013, with the exception of a two-week period in November.
The low-rated, but highly acclaimed comedy will be put on ice for the next few weeks, Cinema Blend is reporting.
Taking its place temporarily is The Voice for two weeks and then there will be a SNL Halloween on Oct. 31. Then Parks will return for two weeks where it will air back-to-back episodes. The Halloween-themed episode of the show will now be airing Nov. 14.
Then after airing on Nov. 21, the show will go back on hiatus until 2014, Vulture notes. NBC is - no surprise - struggling in the ratings and has been moving things around for Thursdays. With the hour-long gap on Thursday nights, NBC will be airing a mix of things, including The Sing-Off, football and its The Sound of Music Live.
In January, the first Thursday will see an hour of Community for its mid-season return and then Parks will reappear on the 9th. Vulture suggests part of the shuffling is to try and help increase viewers for the 9 p.m. comedy Sean Saves the World, which hasn't been doing all that spectacular either.
