Though the second season will not be released for months, Netflix has already made it clear that the streaming service wants to make a third season of the popular political program.

Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos spoke up about a third season on Saturday while giving the keynote speech at the 9th annual Film Independent forum, Deadline reports. "Our intent is that the show keeps going for sure," Sarandos said. "It was a 26-episode commitment. It was not our intent that it just run for two seasons."

Sarandos added that "Talks are in progress right now" and to "stay tuned."

The idea of a third season goes against what co-executive producer Rick Cleveland said earlier in October about the show only going for two seasons, according to Entertainment Weekly. "House of Cards is only going to go a second season and I think that's it," he said to Gold Derby.

Cleveland felt that their lead wouldn't be interested in continuing past the original 26 episode commitment. "Kevin Spacey likes to do movies, and Robin Wright likes to do movies."

Deadline notes that Sarandos also talked about Netflix possibly releasing "big movies ourselves" during the keynote speech. "The model that we're doing for TV should work for movies. Why not premiere movies the same day on Netflix that they are opening in theaters?"
