Some very exciting Star Wars footage has hit the web! 36 years after the film was released, a blooper reel showcasing some hilarious moments from making the film has surfaced.
According to E! Online, the gag reel was discovered by J.W. Rinzler, author of The Making of Star Wars (Enhanced Edition). Apparently, Rinzler found the footage while he was looking through the Lucasfilm archives to research for his book.
Fox News reports that the clip begins with 48 seconds of silence, but then shows several funny moments from the set, giving Star Wars fans a behind the scenes look at some of the hilarity during the making of the movie.
One particularly funny portion of the bloopers is when Mark Hamil, who plays Luke Skywalker, is driving the landspeeder while it loses its wheel covering. Other mentionable moments include Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Alec Guinness, laughing in the Millennium Flacon, and Peter Cushing and Carrie Fisher flubbing lines.
Harrison Ford, who depicted the role of Han Solo, also has his share of gaffes. At one point, the clip shows him accidentally eating his headset before delivering a line.
Star Wars 7 is being written by director J.J. Abrams and Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi writer Lawrence Kasdan. Lucasfilm recently announced that Kasdan would be taking the writing position from Toy Story 3’s Michael Arndt.
