Saturday was a shocking day for many college football fans. The number 5 ranked football team Stanford, lost to the unranked University of Utah.
This heartbreaking game ended with a score of 27-21, making Stanford the first of the top-five ranked teams to lose this season. According to ESPN , seven ranked teams fell in their rankings this past weekend. This includes number 12 Oklahoma and number 18 Michigan.
The hardest part for the Cardinal fans has to be the fact that in the 4th quarter, with 51 seconds left in the game, the Stanford offense was at 4th and 2 and quarterback Kevin Hogan’s pass was incomplete, leading to Stanford’s loss. Before that in the third quarter, Stanford only had the ball twice and fumbled both times.
After Saturday’s game in Utah, Stanford has now fallen to the number 13 spot. Yahoo! Sports reports that the Rose Bowl and Pac 12 championship can still be feasible for Stanford, especially with the November 7th game against University of Oregon. Next weekend, Stanford looks to play number 9 UCLA.
