Two-time Olympic hurdler Lolo Jones is planning on participating in the Winter Olympics - as a bobsledder. In order to make the dream a reality, she has to gain quite a bit of weight.
According to Yahoo Sports, bobsledding is more efficient when the competitors weigh more, because the sled will move quicker.
USA Today reports that the athlete has gained about 30 pounds, weighing in at 157 pounds, through a 9,000 calorie-a-day diet.
"I'm the heaviest ever in my life," Jones said. "It took so much work. I'm three pounds away from my ultimate goal." As the Olympic trial date gets closer, she’s just a few McDonald’s cheeseburgers away.
Jones couldn’t be happier about her added weight, adding that she’s not just gaining fat, but muscle mass as well. "I'm pumped about this muscle weight," she said. "My abs are still there. I'm still cut, just super solid."
Jones is hoping to snap back from a fourth-place defeat in the 100-meter hurdles at the London Olympics last summer. Team trials, which will take place in Lake Placid, NY, begin Oct. 12.
The Olympian has been taking to Twitter to keep her fans updated on her progress.
