The Palace is denying a new report that claims that Prince Charles looks at becoming King like a prison sentence. In a TIME piece profiling the royal, a member of his household described it that way.
The unnamed official stated that Prince Charles worries he won’t be able to finish what he wants to before “the prison shades” close.
The TIME piece notes he’s trying to get his own personal ambitions met before he takes over for his mother, the Queen, 87.
“This is not the Prince of Wales's view and should not be attributed to him as he did not say these words,” said a Clarence House spokesperson, The BBC reports. "The prince has dutifully supported the Queen all his life and his official duties and charitable work have always run in parallel."
Moreover, Prince Charles spoke about his grandson, Prince George, with interviewer Catherine Mayer, saying he’s enjoying his “wonderful wife. And of course now a grandson, which is what this is all about.”
He added, “It’s everybody else’s grandchildren I’ve been bothering about, but the trouble is if you take that long a view people don’t always know what you’re on about.”
