Paul McCartney is defending Miley Cyrus again, saying people shouldn’t be so shocked about her twerking antics.

The former Beatle was at BBC’s Maida Vale studios this week and he was asked about this hot topic by host Jo Whiley.

When she asked what he thought of it he joked, “Disgusting!” adding, “Of course I don’t mean it,” Express reports.

The 71-year-old singer went on to say, “I don’t understand why everyone’s saying, ‘Ooh she shouldn’t do that!’ It is nothing we haven’t seen before.I mean she’s a young girl and these days in that kind of field that she’s in there’s a lot of noise.”

He went on to acknowledge pop stars have to do something outrageous to stay in the game, saying “So you’ve got to do something to get above the chatter and that’s what you’ll see a lot of the guys, a lot of the girls, doing. I don’t think it was bad at all. She looked good, I thought.”

He even proclaimed, “I can twerk with the best of them!” E! Online reports.

McCartney’s comments about Cyrus, 20, follow-up his comments earlier this week that her VMA performance was “only mildly shocking…it wasn't explicit at all."
