Here is the recap of Person of Interest, season 3, episode 5: 'Razgover' that aired Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 10pm on CBS.
The show opens with a man attempting to steal a human liver from an EMT. Shaw, undercover as an EMT, shoots the man and returns the liver to the EMT. He tries to thank her but she walks away. Finch tells Shaw that she should be more friendly.
The Human resources department meet up for a secret meeting, Carter is hidden, taking pictures of the group. Reese meets up with her. Carter is trying to bring down HR by gathering evidence that they are up to dangerous activities.
They receive a new number, however it's not a social security number, instead it's an immigration registration number belonging to a woman named Genrika.
Shaw heads to her apartment to find her, and it turns out Genrika is a 10-year-old girl, living with her drug addicted third cousin in a torn down apartment.
Gen's grandfather brought her to the U.S. after her mother was imprisoned in Russia for protesting.
Gen is almost kidnapped on her way to school. Reese fights off the men while Gen runs away. Shaw shoots two of the men and take Gen into her apartment building.
We're taken back to 1993 where there was a car accident. The ambulance arrives and sees that the driver is dead. A passenger, a little child, is still alive. It's Shaw.
Back to the present, Shaw stays with Gen while waiting for Reese to meet up with them.
Carter talks to Finch over the phone about Gen's family. Her partner, Laskey, asks her about her secret phone calls and meetings. She brushes off the questions. He shows her a gun he bought in New Jersey. Carter takes it from him since he did not run it through with the precinct.
Shaw asks Gen if she knows why the men are after her, Gen says it's because she is a spy.
When two men appear, Shaw tries to get Gen out but they spot them. Gen leads Shaw into a room where she hooked up lines to record phone conversations in her building. They find that the lines were cut.
Gen says she did it to try and get the drug dealers out of the building, but Shaw knows this is why the men are after her, she recorded something that they didn't want to get out. Gen reveals that she learned espionage from her grandfather, and shows Shaw his medal that he gave her before he died.
Gen tells Shaw that she hid the tapes because she doesn't trust the cops. Shaw tells Finch where to find them.
Shaw and Gen talk, and Shaw reveals that she doesn't feel emotions, only anger.
After a pipe bursts, Shaw tries to get Gen out before they pass out. They run into two men with guns. Shaw gets shot, shoots one guy, but the other grabs Gen and knocks Shaw out.
We're brought back to 1993, where we see Shaw get rescued from the car. She is surprisingly calm about the whole situation.
Back to the present, a man tries to kill Shaw, but she knocks him out when he opens the trunk. She calls Finch, and he tells her to go to their doctor friend because she lost a lot of blood.
Finch finds the tapes that Gen hid, and Shaw finds drugs on the guy, in the same wrapping as Gen's cousin at the apartment.
Carter goes back to tracking HR, telling Laskey to cover for her.
Shaw goes to Gen's apartment rather than the doctor. Her cousin reveals that the Russians came to him for the tapes but he didn't have them. They then told him not to report it if Gen goes missing. Shaw knocks him out and then leaves.
While following her HR target, Carter runs into Reese, who was following a Russian involved with Gen's kidnapping. They find out that HR is working with the Russians.
We're brought back to 1993. The firefighter tells Shaw that her dad is dead, and she asks for some food. We see that even as a child, Shaw does not feel emotional about things.
Back to the present, HR is revealed to be involved in a drug ring. They make the new drug, bath salts, and the Russians are the one who move (sell) the drugs. They tailor the crimes in the city so that no one finds out about their secret drug ring.
Shaw finds a man who works closely with HR, and asks him for the location of the facility where they make the drugs. She tells him to call HR, while she hooks herself up to him to take hos blood.
Over the phone, she tells Gen that she is going to save her, and works out a deal with HR.
Shaw goes to Finch and tells him that she is taking the tapes to HR in exchange for Gen. Finch tells Reese about her plan, and Reese tells Carter that he plans to intercept her.
Laskey tells Carter that he needs to talk to her and they head to a bar to talk privately.
Reese confronts HR at the facility. We see that he already got to the men who were preparing for the ambush, leaving him and the head of HR to fight.
Finch guides Shaw through the facility to Gen's location.
The cops show and interrupts Resse's fight. He disappears.
Shaw saves Gen, and blows up the lab.
Carter and Laskey are at the bar. He tells Carter that he knows what she is up to, and that she must tell him everything she knows. Carter shows Laskey the pic of him with HR, and that she knew about his plan to get her from the beginning.
At that point, the bartender, also a crooked lieutenant, pulls out a gun and prepares to shoot Carter.
Carter turns and shoots, killing him. Laskey said she wont get away with that, but she shows him that she shot him with the gun she took from Laskey earlier, tying him to the shooting. She tells him that she will report him, unless he starts working for her now.
We're brought back to 1993, with the firefighter explaining that the girl is completely calm, mentioning how strange it is.
Back in the present, Shaw brings Gen to a new school, and Gen gives Shaw her grandfather's medal. She tells Shaw that she can feel emotion if she listens to herself.
"The voices are there, you just have to listen," Gen says.
Shaw hugs Gen, showing her attempt to feel. She leaves and is talking to Finch as they walk away.
We then see Shaw sleeping. When she opens her eyes, Root the hacker is standing by her bed, and shoots her with a stun gun. The episode ends.
