Peter Jackson has been working fairly hard as we all know on two different Tolkien trilogies. Between the 10 year gap of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy Jackson has only been able to do a couple of other projects (King Kong, The Lovely Bones) and now after his latest trilogy is done he plans on moving to smaller projects and focusing on more intimate stories.

Jackson told the New Zealand Herald that, "We have got a few bits and pieces that we are working on, Fran and I, the things that we are most excited about are some New Zealand stories. We just want to step off the Hollywood blockbuster thing for a while and we've had a few New Zealand stories in line for a while that we think would make great films."

According to Empire Jackson had already made commitments to other films such as the Tintin sequel of which planned on directing, and a couple more book adaptations. But from the what Jackson has said it looks like those projects may be handed off to someone else, or left to sit on Jackson's shelves for a while.
