Last year, Peyton Manning bought 21 Papa John’s franchises in Colorado. Now, business is booming at those locations, and it’s all because of the Denver Broncos quarterback.
According to TMZ, business has improved immensely at all 21 restaurants in the Denver area since Manning took over, in a phenomenon employees call the “Peyton Factor.”
In fact, sales have increased up to 25% in the past year, boosting sales from $3,000-$4,000 to $5,000-$6,000 a day, the equivalent of roughly 60 more pizzas an hour. Colorado Papa John’s franchises not owned by Manning have not seen an increase in sales in the last year at all.
Manning placed a life-size cutout of himself at each of his franchise locations and stops in every now and then. One promotion that helps sales is a 50% discount on Mondays if the Broncos win, which has been every game so far.
Back in October of last year, the Associated Press reported that Manning knew buying the franchises was a great idea. "It's a smart investment now and will be long after I'm done playing football," Manning said. Manning made an especially smart business decision in buying the restaurants just two weeks before marijuana was legalized in Colorado, perhaps contributing to his boost in sales as well.
It’s well-known throughout the NFL that Manning owns Papa Johns franchises, and during the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Broncos game in week 4, the Eagles players shouted out the name of the pizza company while Manning ran a play, reports NBC Sports.
“Well I know — I think I might have heard Papa John’s once, but I don’t know who said it, I mean that’s kind of funny,” Eagles linebacker Connor Barwin said.
