MSNBC announced on Wednesday that it had hired Ronan Farrow for a weekday show in 2014.
The time slot is not yet known, but president of the network, Phil Griffin, said it would be a daytime show and start "either mid- or early January," The New York Times is reporting.
Farrow, who is the son of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, has had several TV appearances over the last few months and will be publishing How America's Military Aid Creates America's Enemies through Penguin.
Farrow said that his show will have some satire in it due to the ridiculous nature of politics. "I have a flair for a little bit of gallows humor," Farrow said. "My natural voice is already somewhat counterculture for cable news."
Entertainment Weekly notes that Farrow has said his show would be "a new generation of news show for a new, more engaged generation of viewers." Farrow added, "it's a show about why the news matters to you - and what you can do to be a part of the story."
Griffin sounded excited as he talked about Ronan. "His show will be a game changer for MSNBC, representing a fresh approach to how we deliver news. Ronan has packed more experience into his 25 years of life than most people have in a lifetime."
