Ryan Seacrest will keep on ringing in the new year on your TV as a deal to extend his time as host and executive producer of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve was announced.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Seacrest has been involved in the New Year's Eve program since 2005. He took over as sole host after Dick Clark passed away, something the show spent a great deal of time remembering in a two hour tribute.
Along with Seacrest, Dick Clark Production's CEO Allen Shapiro will continue to also executive produce. Shapiro commented on the extension saying, "Ryan and I started this partnership in 2005. He has been a key factor in the extended and expanded success of the show. It's very difficult to take over a franchise created by an icon and grow it. Ryan has done just that."
The American Idol host released a statement about the deal, USA Today reports. Seacrest said that he will "forever be both sentimental and grateful" for his time with the show.
Seacrest also said in the statement that he will continue "Dick's vision" for "new traditions and fun moments that only live television can deliver."
2013's special on ABC was watched by 22.6 million people, its highest ever.
