The most infamous women in America; Olivia Pope is completely overwhelmed now that her name has been leaked to the press as President Fitzgerald’s vixen. Her father keeps convincing her to get on a plane and disappear. He says that she is out of options. Olivia replies sassy and confident that she is never out of options.
David Rosen comes into to talk to Olivia Pope as a friend to come and talk options with her. He suggests that she puts on her white hat and admits to everything that she has done. As they are talking, footage leaks from the news of President Fitzgerald leaving Olivia Popes’ house from late at night. The plot thickens.
Olivia finally meets with the President. Olivia immediately jumps into fix it mode. She wants to talk about how to fix things and to make a plan. Olivia asked his wife to come and meet with them. Cyrus is completely out of the loop.
Mellie wants President Fitzgerald to deny an affair with Olivia. She wants to smile and admit that nothing is wrong. On the other hand, Olivia starts to release her plan. Her plan sounds simple, honest, and elegant. It’s ironic because here the truth works.
Mellie is bitter. She doesn’t want to be a part of the truth, well at least not the whole truth. She is honestly hurt at the demoralization of their marriage. She is truly hurt, tired and frustrated at Fitzgerald’s affair with Olivia. Mellie says that she would only agree if they said that they slept with one another after the inauguration and then after the assassination attempt.
Later on, Mellie admits her doubts to Cyrus. They agree to leak an interns name as having sex with the President. Mellie does this to get back at the president, after figuring out that he was the original one who leaked Olivia Pope’s name to the press, so that he could end their marriage and bring Olivia into the White House.
Once again, we can see how the White House and other superiors can spin anything at the expense of another innocent person. Intern Jeanine Smith is now the focal point of a new scandal and has been accused of sleeping with the President.
Harrison falls into his supportive “Big Brother” role reminding Olivia that: “There is nothing wrong with a little self preservation…It doesn’t mean you don’t get to wear the White Hat. Once again Olivia wears the White Hat!
