Two men with briefcase from 1950s are setting up electrical work in the bunker. One of them is very excited as the prospect of their assignment to man the bunker. Six months later shows the two just playing chess complaining about how boring their assignment is. The phone rings and they are informed of an arriving guest, a hunter by the name Dorothy who shows up with the Wicked Witch from Oz.
Back in present day, Crowley is still locked in the bunker. Sam leaves him paper to write demon names down and leaves him. Dean comes back to bumper after dropping Kevin off at an angel warded hotel room and Sam ask why Cas isn’t staying at the bunker. Dean tells Sam that Cas didn’t want his presence to cause trouble for them with the angels so he left.
Sam has discovered the map table in the bunker may be able to track angels thanks to something Kevin says and they follow the wires from the table to the computer room in the basement. The computer is not hooked up to anything but is still running so Dean pops open the back panel causing him to knock over a bottle of liquid in the process. The boys leave the room to go find someone who might be able to figure out how to work the computer and the liquid from the bottle spills out and starts to form into something on the wall.
Back in the 50s the two members of the Men of Letters and Dorothy have the Wicked Witch bond but who they can’t kill.
The boys bring Charlie(Felicia Day) to the bunker to work on the computer which is a way to track evil things. After what appears to be many hours Charlie initiates a download of all the info from the computer onto a tablet.
In the past, the Witch has become unbound and takes over one of the men’s body to use as a way to talk because her tongue has been cut out. Dorothy chases after the witch while the other man stabs the possessed one and then goes to find Dorothy.
The Winchesters and Charlie go back to the computer room to check the download and find what the liquid has done to the wall. They cut open the cocoon like substance and the hunter Dorothy from 1950 falls out. Charlie finds the info in the Men of Letters database from the 1950 about Oz and Dorothy and the Witch. Dorothy explains about the concoction that sealed both the Witch and Dorothy into the bottle. The boys go to look for the wandering Witch.
The Witch comes across Crowley and Crowley tells her to write down what she is looking for.
Dorothy and Charlie discuss the Wizard of Oz book which was written by Dorothy’s father, L. Frank Baum who was part of the Men of Letters. Charlie finds a way to stun the witch with poppy extract, so the two go make poppy bullets.
The boys come across Crowley who knows what the Wicked Witch wants and will only tell them if they unchain him. Dean unchains him and Crowley shows the boy what she wrote down; the word key. He sent her to the kitchen where they keep keys. When the boys get to the kitchen it is destroyed and Dorothy and Charlie catch up with them. Dorothy explains the key the witch is looking for is the key to Oz which turns any door into a door to the magical land. Dean says he’s seen the key when he was taking inventory and it’s in his room. They split up; Dean and Charlie go to Dean’s room and Dorothy and Sam go to look for the Witch.
The Witch sneaks up on Sam and Dorothy. They manage to shoot her once but she escapes through the vents into Dean’s room where Dean and Charlie have found the key. The Witch steals the key from Dean and hits Charlie with some kind of spell and disappears through the vent again. Charlie appears to be dead.
Dean carries Charlie to the bed and Sam comes running in and Dean immediately calls for Ezekiel. He begs him to revive Charlie but Ezekiel says he would have to stay in Sam longer, or he could help kill the Witch instead but the choice was up to Dean. He chooses to save Charlie’s life.
Sam and Dean go look for the Witch while Dorothy stays with Charlie while she recuperates. Dorothy tells Charlie she died when she started describing the dream she had; her dream was really what her heaven looked like. Dorothy says she know Charlie was killed because that was what happened to her when the Witch killed her. She then proceeds to tell her about the time she was killed in Oz.
Sam asks who Zeke is because that is who dean called when Sam came into the room. Dean diverts the conversation to why Sam hasn’t “moved in” yet. Why hasn’t he made the bunker more like a home? Sam says it’s because he never had a home life like Dean did.
Charlie says they can probably use the book Dorothy’s father wrote to find a way to kill the Witch. That gives Dorothy an idea and they head to the garage.
The Witch ambushes Sam and Dean and brain washes them to find Charlie and Dorothy and kill them. Dorothy looks in her motorcycle and finds the red heels. Sam and Dean, who have been possessed by the Witch attack Charlie and Dorothy while the Witch is working on a potion to bring her armies to this world. She uses the key to open the door to Oz.
Charlie and Dorothy overcome Sam and Dean long enough for Charlie to take the shoes and escape to find the Witch. Charlie takes the slippers and stabs the Witch in the brain with the heels, which turns her into a pile of rags, and shuts the door to Oz before the flying moneys can get through the door
The boys chain Crowley back up since he still hasn’t given them any demon names. Charlie tells Dean that she knows she was brought back from the dead, and he begs her to keep it a secret. Dorothy invites Charlie to Oz to fight the rebellion with her. Charlie accepts with enthusiasm and they both use the key to go back to Oz, leaving the boys alone in the bunker.
