Terrelle Pryor has been cleared to play Sunday night against the San Diego Chargers.
Pryor was sidelined last week after suffering a concussion the week prior (no pun intended) in a Oakland's game against the Broncos. The reason he sat out was that he was still experiencing some symptoms, including sensitivity to light. He did, however, pass the NFL's concussion protocol, according to ESPN.
"He is symptom-free, so he's clear," Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said Wednesday.
In addition to this news, SBNation.com reports that the Raiders also announced that Matt Flynn has been demoted to third string under new backup quarterback, undrafted rookie Matt McGloin. The Raiders signed Flynn to be their franchise quarterback this offseason, paying him $6.5 million. He did not do very well in last week's 24-14 loss to the Redskins, going down for seven sacks, fumbling twice, and throwing an interception returned for a touchdown.
"Listen, it is what it is," Allen said. "It hasn't worked out like we anticipated and we've got to make decisions and we've got to move forward and continue to go, and [Flynn is] going to continue to battle and scratch and claw, and I still believe that he's a capable quarterback. But we're going to give McGloin a chance.
Pryor, on the other hand, is doing pretty well for himself. He is is averaging 7.7 yards per attempt this season, and he also leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards per game.
