Houston Texans Coach Gary Kubiak has decided to give Matt Schaub at least one more shot to start at quarterback for the team in Week 6 against the St. Louis Rams.
Last week the Texans got embarrassed by the 49ers losing 34-3 as Schaub was picked off by Tramaine Brock twice, one returned for a touchdown. This was the fourth week in a row in which Schaub threw a pick six.
The Texans were thought to be Super Bowl contenders at the start of the season, but have started the season at a disappointing 2-3. Fans are not happy with the season is going and are putting all blame on Houston's quarterback. According to the Huffington Post some fans were so frustrated with Schaub that they showed up at his house to confront him. They apparently showed up and shouted obscenities at him, but no one was arrested or hurt.
Back up T.J. Yates saw some action at the end of last weeks game against San Francisco, completing 3 of 5 passes for 15 yards, SportingNews.com reports. Yates has five career starts under his belt, all as a rookie, and also has a playoff win in the books.
Kubiak believes he made the right decision going forward though he called it a "tough decision."
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher had this to say about Schaub:
"Matt is an excellent quarterback. He’s won a lot of games. I personally have faced him many many times and I know what he is capable of doing.”
Kubiak believes that Schaub gives the Texans the best "chance to win" so we shall see how his decision plays out for Houston.
