Did you miss out on The Big Bang Theory this past Thursday? If you did, maybe you should check out this recap first.
Loved, loved, loved the latest episode, which found our quirky group of friends uniquely paired off to participate in Raj’s scavenger hunt. Apparently the gang had all skipped out on Raj’s murder mystery dinner a week earlier. (Personally, I would have jumped at that invite.) To make it up to him, the gang agrees to participate in a scavenger hunt for a golden coin organized entirely by Raj.
When told to split into three teams of two, they initially suggest splitting up according to couples. Leonard quickly suggests they mix things up a bit. Penny immediately recognizes this as his attempt to partner up with someone a bit more intellectual. To prove to Leonard that she’s not a “liability” in an intellectual game, Penny chooses Sheldon. Sheldon’s reaction, “The only time I’m ever picked first for something and I’m stuck with the liability!” The scavenger hunt commences with Sheldon and Penny as one team, Leonard and Bernadette as the second team, and Howard and Amy as the third. This episode broke apart the usual pairings to create even more amusement.
Sheldon and Penny had their usual banter. The pair actually does quite well together. They hilariously even one another out, in regards to intellect and common sense. Poor Leonard realizes just how competitive Bernadette is, as she hilariously yells at him for being weak. She even goes as far as to lie to him by telling him that Penny often calls Leonard a name “that usually refers to a lady part, or a cat, or a willow.” Love this sharp, sarcastic, and fierce side of Bernadette.
Howard and Amy stole the show. They awkwardly realize they have nothing in common. However, when deciding on what music to listen to, they realize they have one very important thing in common: Neil Diamond! Queue “Sweet Caroline” and a fun-filled car-karaoke session. (Admit it, it’s so hard not to sing-along to that song.) Soon, the scavenger hunt took a backseat to their fascination with Neil Diamond. The two plan to attend his concert and later perform some actual Neil Diamond karaoke together. Seriously, best pairing. Watching them jam out to some Neil Diamond was definitely one of the highlights of the episode.
Because he wasn’t sure who would end up with Penny, Raj secretly placed a coin in each of their pockets so that they would all be winners. He even gave one to himself. I love when Raj does things like this. It’s so adorable. He’s so awkward, but so absolutely adorable.
Fantastic episode! How can a little “Sweet Caroline” not cheer you up, especially with Howard and Amy serenading you with it through your television? Make sure you’re tuning in Thursdays at 8/7 c on CBS.
