This week’s Big Bang Theory, “The Workplace Proximity,” starts off with Sheldon and Amy at a date at the Cheesecake factory. On this date, Amy tells Sheldon that she will be consulting on an experiment at his university for a couple of months. She suggests that they can carpool and eat lunch together. Amy wants to make sure that things will be okay with them working at such a close proximity. Sheldon seems to think that it won’t be a problem.

At the apartment, Howard tells Sheldon that it won’t be good having Amy at work with him. Raj and Leonard think it will be fine. Howard explains that he would never want to work with Bernadette because that would mean seeing her all day. Sheldon says he won’t be spending more time with her because they will just deduct the time they spend together from their “weekly quota.”

Penny, Bernadette, and Amy are at Penny’s apartment when Sheldon comes knocking. He tells Amy that he doesn’t feel like working together is a good idea. Amy tells him that she already signed a contract and cashed a check. Sheldon reveals what Howard said about Bernadette, which makes her angry. She storms out of the apartment to confront Howard. Amy tells Sheldon that she won’t bother him at work and they don’t have to eat lunch together.

Back at Leonard’s, Howard tries to talk his way out of what he said to Bernadette. He finally admits, with help from Sheldon, that he would get sick of her. Bernadette leaves and tells him to find somewhere else to sleep.

At the university cafeteria Leonard asks Howard an Raj how their “slumber party” went. Raj reveals that they did things like eat cookie dough and watch The Princess Bride. Amy enters the cafeteria and passes by the guy’s table, seeming cold towards Sheldon. Sheldon goes over to where Amy is sitting and she introduces him to her colleagues. He tries to make racist jokes and then he sits down and starts to babble about how him and Amy are in relationship and it sometimes has physical aspects such as hand holding and hugging. Amy is embarrassed and tries to get him to stop, but he doesn’t take the hint.

Amy is in the lab doing an experiment wtih a monkey when Sheldon stops in for a visit. He tells her that she gets to drive him home because Leonard is still working. Amy tells him that she cannot leave and that she did not like his behavior in the cafeteria. She tells him to find another way home.

Sheldon finally arrives home at 9, and finds Leonard and Penny watching a movie on the couch. He tells them that Amy did not want to drive him home. Penny asks what happens and Sheldon said that she thinks that he embarrassed her. Leonard and Penny side with Amy without hearing his side of the story.

Raj and Howard are watching TV together at Raj’s apartment. Bernadette shows up and tells Howard that he overreacted and he admits he didn’t handle it well, either. Bernadette explains that she feels that he spends all his time with his friends, since he works with them all day and then hangs out with them after work. She even points out that he got a couples massage with Raj. Howard says that she is right and he will turn over a new leaf tomorrow. When Bernadette asks why tomorrow, Howard tells her that he is busy playing the new Batman game with Raj. This prompts her to leave in anger.

Sheldon arrives at Amy’s apartment in the middle of the night. He tells her that relationships are difficult when you are with someone that has social issues and can be perceived as a weirdo. Amy tells him that he isn’t a weirdo, but then Sheldon tells her that he means her. He explains that he never knows what will set her off. Sheldon says he likes Amy for who she is “quirks and all.” Amy says she likes Sheldon too, to which he replies, “I should hope so. I don’t see anyone else banging on the door to put up with your nonsense.” Amy closes the door in his face. Sheldon points out that she didn’t even say goodbye and that it is no wonder why people think she is weird.

At the bar at the Cheesecake factory, Bernadette and Amy say they will not forgive the guys until they come begging on their knees. Penny tells them not to worry because Leonard promised to sit the guys down and set them straight. We then see the guys at the apartment using laser beams to pop balloons rather than talking about anything.
