Tonight on The Voice the knockout rounds began. This is the final round of competition that the vocalists face before they advance to the live shows.
The knockout rounds work differently compared to the battle rounds. Two vocalists from the same team face off, singing individual songs that each vocalist has selected personally. It is then up to the coach of that team to decide who will advance to the live shows.
The steals play a part again in the knockout rounds. Coaches have the chance to steal a vocalist who was eliminated and have them then join their team.
First up to the knockout stage was Team Christina. The knockout round was between Josh Logan who performed, Stevie Wonder’s “Living for the City” against Amber Nicole who performed “Mama Knows Best” by Jessie J. Aguilera added that she loved Logan’s vocal and appreciated that Nicole had style with her performance. In the end, Logan advanced to the live shows representing Team Christina. Shelton and Green both went in for a steal on Nicole. Nicole decided to join Team Cee Lo.
Team Cee Lo was up next. Kat Robichaud was paired up against Monika Leigh. Robichaud picked an Alanis Morissette classic, “You Oughta Know” to perform. Leigh chose to sing, “Hit the Road Jack.” Kat Robichaud advanced to the live shows, sending Leigh home.
Following Robichaud advancing to the live shows, was Holly Henry who went up against Nic Hawk representing Team Blake. Henry selected “Creep,” to perform for her knockout performance. Hawk decided to change up and put his own twist on “Genie in a Bottle,” by coach Aguilera for his knockout performance. Aguilera said that both vocalists really showed bravery tonight and that Hawk really took her down memory lane. Left with a tough decision, Shelton decided to advance Hawk to the live shows sending Henry home.
Team Adam was up next to the knockout stage. Both artists that Levine paired to go head to head got four chair turns during the blind auditions. Ashley Dubose, who performed, “Hey Soul Sister” was up paired against Tessanne Chin who chose to sing, “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).” After much discussion, Levine decided to advance Chin to the live shows.
Following Chin’s impressive performance, Team Blake took to the knockout stage next. Briana Cuoco was paired up against Shelbie Z. Cuoco decided to sing, “Don’t Speak.” Shelbie Z went country performing “Last Name,” by Carrie Underwood. Shelton was left with a tough decision but decided to advance Shelbie Z. to the live shows sending Cuoco home.
Team Adam took the stage next. Levine paired Grey and James Irwin. Grey performed “Already Gone,” by Kelly Clarkson. James Irwin went up against Grey singing, “Breakeven,” by The Script. Green commented on the performances by saying that Grey really surprised him and that Irwin had a strong range. The final decision came down to Levine, who decided to move Grey to the live shows.
The next knockout pairing went to Team Christina who decided to have Destinee Quinn face off against Olivia Henken. Quinn decided to perform, “See You Again,” by Carrie Underwood. Henken sang, “You’re No Good.” Aguilera was left with a tough decision and moved Henken to the live shows, sending Quinn home.
The final knockout performance was given to Team Cee Lo. Cole Vosbury went up against Johnny Gray. Vosbury decided to perform, “Let Her Go,” by Passenger. Gray chose to sing, “We Can Work It Out.” Being left with a hard decision, Green decided to advance Gray to the live shows. Leaving Vosbury available for the other coaches to steal. Levine immediately hit his steal button for Vosbury, followed by Shelton who also hit his button. The pressure then switched to Vosbury who was able to chose which team he wanted to join. Vosbury decided to become a member of Team Blake.
The knockouts continue tomorrow night on NBC.
