Marcia Wallace, the voice of Edna Krabappel on The Simpsons, died in Los Angeles Friday night.
According to TMZ, Wallace was surrounded by family when she died in her Los Angeles home at the age of 70. Although the details of her illness is unknown, the actress/comedienne had been sick for the last few months.
Along with her role on The Simpsons, which won her an Emmy for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance in 1992, Wallace also played the receptionist Carol Kester on the 1970s sitcom The Bob Newhart Show. She also was a game show panelist for shows like Hollywood Squares, The $25,000 Pyramid and Match Game.
Wallace also spent her time as a breast cancer activist after she was diagnosed in 1985.
Earlier this month, Time Entertainment reported that The Simpsons producers planned on killing off a regular character. We reported that executive producer Al Jean revealed that the character to be killed off had won an Emmy for performance on the show.
