The Voice battles continue tonight on NBC. For those who are new to NBC’s hit reality singing competition, let’s recap how the battle rounds work. Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine all set their teams during the blind auditions. Now the teams compete amongst themselves. The coaches set the battle, by picking two vocalists to sing the same song as a duet. Then the coach decides who will stay on their team; there is a twist though. Other coaches can steal a vocalist if they lose the battle rounds. With the teams filling up their final spots, each button push is critical!

The first battle of the night went to Josh Logan who faced off against Michael Lynch both representing Team Christina. Aguilera picked Maroon 5’s chart topping hit, “Harder to Breathe,” for the dual. The two vocalists much have felt extra pressure singing one of coach, Adam Levine own song. Before Aguilera made her decision, Levine added that the performance was really fun and both vocalists did an amazing job. The final decision came down to Aguilera, who chose Logan to advance to the knockout rounds sending Lynch home.

Next up to the battles stage was Team Cee Lo. Green paired George Horga Jr. against Juhi. Green picked Gavin Degraw’s, “Best I Ever Had.” The performance was full of energy and life and the other coaches’ comment on the level of professionalism from both artists. In the end, Green decided to advance George Horga Jr. to the knockout rounds and Levine stole Juhi. Levine instantly hit his steal button when Juhi became available to steal.

Team Blake took the battle stage next. Shelton paired Austin Jenckes to face off against country singer, Brian Pounds. Shelton picked, “To Love Somebody,” by the Bee Gees. The battle between these two vocalists was intense and provided beautiful harmonies. In the end, Austin Jenckes advanced to the knockout rounds and moved on to represent team Blake.

Following Team Blake was Team Adam. Levine chose to pair James Irwin and Matt Cermanski against each other. Levine also chose for the song, “Counting Stars,” for the voclaists to perform. Levine has Ryan Tedder as his mentor. Which added pressure to both Irwin and Cermanski performances. After a heartfelt performance from both vocalists, Irwin advanced to represent Team Adam in the knockouts and Cermanski was sent home.

Next up to the battles stage was Team Christina. Aguilera paired Destinee Quinn Lina Gaudenzi to face off while singing, “I’m Not Ready To Make Nice,” by the Dixie Chicks. The performance was one of the most emotional of the night. In the end, Aguilera chose to advance Quinn to the next round, making Gaudenzi available to steal. Levine stole Gaudenzi who then becomes a member of Team Adam.

The final battle of the night went to Team Adam. Levine had James Wolpert go up against Will Champlin. Levine picked “Radioactivite,” by Imagine Dragons. The battle was very intense and the other coaches comments on the vocalists’ style and vocal range. Leaving Levine with a hard decision. After much deliberation, Levine decided to advance James Wolpert to the knockout rounds. Champlin was available for a steal and Aguilera hit her button at the last possible moment. Making Champlin the next member of Team Christina.

The final night of battles conclude tomorrow night on NBC.
