With the blind auditions more than half over, the search continues for the best vocal talent to complete the coaches’ teams. With spots on the coaches’ team filling up, every button push matters.
First up to the Voice stage was Will Champlin, who has a very famous Dad who was a member of the band Chicago. Will Champlin performed a cover of the Gavin Degraw song, “Not Over You.” Shelton turned his chair around first, followed by Levine and then Green. Champlin chose to become the next member of Team Adam.
Up next was Macy Estes from Indiana. Estes put her own original signature on a hip-hop focused cover “The Way.” Even with a passionate performance none of the four judges turned around. Aguilera said that Estes had a lot of talent and if she pushed herself that would happen. Estes even got the chance to perform an original rap for the judges.
Stephanie Anne Johnson took the Voice stage next. Johnson spends eight months out of the year performing on cruise ships. Ready for some time on land, Johnson performed “Black Horse and a Cherry Tree.” Halfway through the performance, Aguilera and Green both turned their chairs around. In the end, Johnson became a member of Team Christina.
Next up was Sam Cerniglia, from Chicago, Illinois. Cerniglia sang, “It’s a Beautiful Day.” Towards the end of the performance, both Green and Shelton turned their chairs around. After a heated competition between Green and Shelton, Cerniglia joined Team Blake.
Following Cerniglia was Jennifer Newberry, who came all the way from Sweden to audition for The Voice. Newberry performed, “Locked Out of Heaven,” originally performed by Bruno Mars. Newberry’s performance was fully of energy and passion but none of the four judges turned their chairs around.
James Irwin, is back to audition for the The Voice after a failed attempt last season. Irwin returned and sang, “Losing My Religion.” All four judges turned their chairs around before the first few notes of the song had finished. Irwin made Voice history by having all four coaches turn around on a second audition. Irwin then got to sit back and enjoy the judges’ fight for him. In the end, Irwin became a member of Team Adam.
Following Irwin was Olivia Henken who performed, “Two Black Cadillacs,” originally performed by Carrie Underwood. Aguilera was the first coach to turn her chair around for the country singer. At the last moment Green hit his button and entered into the fight. After much discussion between all four judges, Henken joined Team Christina.
Next up to audition for the Voice was Jason Kertson, who rose to fame on YouTube. Kertson performed, “Lips of An Angel.” Even with a powerful performance, none of the four judges turned around for Kertson.
R. Anthony took the Voice stage next. Anthony performed “Hall of Fame.” Aguilera was the first coach to turn her chair around. In the last possible moment, Green entered into the fight for Anthony. In the end, Anthony chose to join Team Cee Lo.
Aguilera, Shelton and Green picked up an artist during the break.
ountry singer, Justin Chain took the stage next. Chain survived a horrific accident and is looking at life as a second chance. Chain performed, “She’s Country,” original performed by Jason Aldean. Shelton was the first to turn around his chair for the country singer. In the end none of the other coaches wanted to compete with Shelton and Chain joined Team Blake.
The final artist of the night was single mom, Ashley Dubose. Dubose sang, “Diamonds,” originally performed by Rihanna. Shelton, Aguilera, and Levine all turned their chairs around closely followed by Green. Makin Dubose another four-chair performance. All four coaches battled for Dubose. In the end, Dubose became another member of Team Adam.
The blind auditions will continue Monday night on NBC.
