The final night of the battle rounds concluded last night on the hit reality singing competition The Voice. With only a few spots in the knockout rounds left, the competition is in full throttle. The vocalists left everything they had on the stage in order to advance to the knockout rounds.
Green was the only coach who had a steal left, the other three coaches have used their steals leading up to the final night of competition.
The first battle was Jonny Gray going up against Shawn Smith from Team Cee Lo. Green picked the song, “Refugee,” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Shelton commented on the performance saying that it was indeed “hot,” and that each vocalist gave everything they had to the performance. In the end, Green decided to advance Gray to the knockout rounds sending Smith home.
Barry Black went up against Preston Pohl from Team Adam in the next battle. Levine picked a classic Temptations song, “I Wish It Would Rain.” Aguilera said that Pohl had the kind of voice that you can’t buy with vocal lessons and that his voice draws her in, naming him the winner of the battle in her eyes. After much discussion, Levine decided to move Pohl to the knockout rounds. Green looked to the audience for an answer if he should steal Black but in the end, Black was sent home.
In battles that did not air on the show, Team Blake paired Holly Henry vs. Cilla Chan and Henry was named the winner. Brandon Chase also advanced from Team Blake and from Team Cee Lo Tamara Chauniece advanced after performing Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry.”
The next battle was between Olivia Henken going up against Stephanie Anne-Johnson on Team Christina. Aguilera chose the country pop hit, “DONE.” by The Band Perry. Both women delivered a powerhouse performance. Green commented on the performance by saying for Anne-Johnson, who had never heard the record before, she really gave it her all. Shelton said that because he really knew the record, he would have given the battle to Henken. In the end, Aguilera chose to keep Henken on her team and advance to the knockout rounds. Green decided to steal Anne-Johnson, who then became a member of Team Cee Lo. The audience and the coaches started chanting “Grandma,” in honor of Anne-Johnson’s Grandma.
The knockout rounds start next week on NBC.
