TNT has renewed the real-life drama series Cold Justice for a second season. The show is co-executive produced by Law & Order mastermind Dick Wolf and produced by his Dick Wolf Films.

The network said that Cold Justice’s first season averaged 2.5 million viewers in Live+3/Like+7 data. That puts it in the Top 5 of new unscripted shows for the third quarter of 2013.

Cold Justice airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. and features former prosecutor Kelly Siegler and former crime-scene investigator Yolanda McClary. The show follows them to small towns around the country, where they solve murder cases that have gone years without new clues or being solved.

“We’re very proud to be renewing Cold Justice, which has already delivered real-world results for several of the cases featured on the show,” TNT’s David Eilenberg said in a statement. “Viewers have come to see Kelly and Yolanda as a real-life counterpart to such crime-drama duos as Cagney & Lacey and even our own Rizzoli & Isles.”

The executive producing team includes Wolf, Dan Cutforth & Jane Lipsitz (Top Chef) and Tom Thayer (Hitchcock). It is co-produced by Magical Elves with Dick Wolf Films.

Cold Justice premiered on Sept. 3 and will wrap up its freshman season on Oct. 22. The second season will start early next year.
