The wildcats are back! After five long years, the High School Musical cast is reuniting for charity.
To celebrate the reunion of the East High gang, TheCelebrityCafe.com has compiled a list of the best High School Musical songs. The list only includes songs from the three High School Musical films, not the incredibly disappointing Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure.
The first High School Musical film was released in 2006 on the Disney Channel. It introduced the world to Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens). Gabriella was a nerd turned singer. Troy was a basketball guy turned singer. The two had a forbidden love, because their friends didn’t approve, and they worked it out through song and dance. Because of the popularity of the films, the cast, excluding Efron, went on tour performing the songs live.
High School Musical 2 set the record for the most-watched Disney channel original movie, according to Variety. There were 17.2 million viewers for the premiere. The second film follows the gang during summer break and their summer jobs at Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) and Ryan (Lucas Grabeel) Evans’ country club.
High School Musical 3 was shown in theaters and told the story of the senior year. Troy and Gabriella ended up heading to college 32.7 miles apart. Taylor went to Yale, Chad (Corbin Bleu) went to the University of Albuquerque. Ryan went to Julliard. Sharpay got a movie to herself. Everybody got their happy ending.
While the plotlines are great, what makes High School Musical the best is the music. There are (many) heartbreaking ballads by Gabriella and there are group numbers with cool choreography. High School Musical is a kids’ classic and a large part of childhoods across the globe.
Below are the top 10 songs from the High School Musical films. Feel free to sing along.
