It’s raining and you’ve had a terrible day. You’ve been brought down mentally by your boss, teacher, or peers and you just want to sit at home and sulk. If you have ever felt like this, the best ingredients to deal with it are a tub of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, a warm blanket on a comfy couch, and a movie.

I’ve noticed that when many people feel down, they just need to watch a movie that will help them see the brighter side of things and let some tears out that they had bottled up during the day. I know after a bad day, this is the perfect recipe for me. Therefore, I’ve devised a list of the Top 10 movies to watch when you’re feeling depressed. They’re not fully comedic or inspirational, but movies that make us feel grateful for what we have.

Movies like The Blind Side and The Notebook make the list. Even though they’re completely separate plot scenarios, they teach viewers to never give up on anything and show the struggles people face in different aspects of their lives. Whether it’s love, career, or a hobby, the characters in these movies struggle to find happiness. There are also feel-good romances such as Love Actually and Life is Beautiful that make the list because they just paint a smile on your face when you spirits desperately need a lift.
