Mother of four, Tori Spelling, is opening up about her financial struggles despite being the daughter of the late television mogul Aaron Spelling.
Due to a falling out with her mother, Spelling inherited $800,000 of her father’s multi-million dollar estate and she’s now being forced to cut back on her once lavish lifestyle.
In a new interview with People she said she realized how bad it had become when their business manager told her that she and her husband, Dean McDermott, couldn’t afford a vasectomy.
“I haven't bought a purse in three years. And it's fine. I look back on that girl who shopped at Gucci in my 20s and I can't even relate,” she said. “I can't believe I thought it was important.”
The 40-year-old reality star wrote in her new book The High Life that she blames herself for her family’s financial situation.
“It's no mystery why I have money problems.I grew up rich beyond anyone's dreams. I never knew anything else. Even when I try to embrace a simpler lifestyle I can't seem to let go of my expensive tastes,” she wrote. “And then there's my shopping problem. I've bought ridiculous amounts of stuff for the kids, clothing, toys, crafts.”
The family’s reality show Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood has been canceled, and she explained of their lack of income “We don't have a series on the air right now, so we have to be more restrictive of what we can spend, just like anyone who doesn't currently have a steady job.”
They do have another one in the works, an HGTV show called Tori & Dean: Cabin Fever, Daily Mail reports.
Spelling and McDermott have four children; Liam, 6, Stella, 5, Hattie, 2, and Finn, 14 months. She said they all share clothes, noting “I love that they know we hand things down. We're all about repurposing. It's a really good value to have.”
