The Toronto Maple Leafs are all about fan loyalty, and they proved it when they sent flowers and a heart-felt letter to a family of a season ticket holder who passed away recently. The fan held season tickets for 25 years, and the Leafs decided to give back when he passed.
Yahoo Sports reported that the team did not seek out any publicity or reward for the gesture, they simply wanted to do something nice for a long-time fan.
The season ticket holder's grandson posted a photo of both the flowers and the letter the team sent on Reddit.
The flowers sent from the team included a card reading, “Our thoughts and prayers are with you as we mourn the loss of a great member of Leafs Nation – The Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey Club” as well as a letter from Dave Nonis, senior vice president and general manager of the Leafs.
The letter read as follows:
“On behalf of the entire Toronto Maple Leafs organization, please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of your father, Paul.
I understand your father was a long-time and loyal Leafs fan, as well as a season seat holder for more than 25 years, and that the two of you were able to share many special memories together cheering on the team.
Hockey offers a fantastic bond between Canadian fathers and sons and we hope that the memories you shared together at Leafs games will comfort you and your family during this difficult time.
Again, our deepest sympathies; our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.”
