Early ratings returns are showing a CBS victory thanks to strong showings from its Wednesday night shows, as they held off baseball and Pixar.
ABC's Pixar Toy Story of Terror special helped the network for the evening, though it ultimately tied in the key 18-49 demographic, HitFix notes. Toy Story was watched by 10.29 million viewers and had a 3.0 in the demo. Unfortunately, it did not prove helpful as a lead-in for Back in the Game, which continues to struggle with a 1.8 rating and 6.2 million viewers.
People tune back in once that show was over for Modern Family, which drew in 10.8 million viewers and a 4.0 in the key demo. Super Fun Night continues to struggle and again dropped the viewership for the network down to 6.02 million viewers and a 2.1 rating. Nashville ended the night for the network with a 1.7 rating and 5.75 million viewers.
CBS had a solid night thanks to its hour-long programs, The Hollywood Reporter notes. Survivor had a 2.5 in the demo while Criminal Minds remained strong at 2.7. CSI ticked upward slightly to 2.0. CBS averaged 10.1 million viewers for the night.
Fox did fairly well with its ALCS Game Four between the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox. The game averaged a 2.4 rating, which is a 71 percent increase from last year's ALCS game. The game averaged 8.06 million viewers.
NBC offered no competition with its shows. Revolution dropped slightly to a 1.4 rating. Law & Order: SVU did manage to increase over the previous week with a 1.7 in the key demo. Ironside halted its week over week slide with a 1.1, same as last week. The network averaged 5.9 million viewers.
The CW averaged 2.6 million viewers for night with its two shows.The Arrow was up, to 1.8 in the rating, while The Tomorrow People slipped slightly to a 0.8 for the night.
